In the first 40 years, Thornton Stanley built a construction company from 2 employees, a dump truck and a backhoe to over 60 employees on sitework projects around North Alabama.  He was recognized for his vision, determination and hard work in 2001 by President George W. Bush, who presented Mr. Stanley with the U.S. Small Business Administration National Small Business Person of the Year Award.  The White House Ceremony is pictured here.   

 

The company has received numerous other awards and citations on the local and state level, from Huntsville City Council resolutions to Association of General Contractors of Alabama Outstanding Business Award.

 

Stanley Construction is recognized for it’s creation of jobs and contribution to economic development in Madison County, as well as for its leadership in community and professional organizations such as the Top of Alabama Regional Council of Government, the Redstone Arsenal Commanding General's Community Advisory Board, the Association of General Contractors, and many more.

STANLEY CONSTRUCTION

Thornton Stanley, Jr., Algernon Stanley, Wade Hays (project management partner) and Dennis Bragg (satisfied customer) display the AGC Alabama 2017 BUILDSouth Award by the Associated General Contractors of Alabama in the category of Heavy Industrial Construction under $ 5 million for their work on the design and construction of the Bragg Farms Irrigation reservoir project in Taft, TN.  About 1 mile north of the Alabama-Tennessee line, this project involved the site selection, site design, and construction of a 100-acre irrigation reservoir that will provide 472.5 million gallons of water to irrigation systems on the adjoining 2,000-acre row crop farm.
